My work lives in the space between two worlds. On one side, the sensory delight of the Canadian landscape—the shifting light across forests, the vividness of seasonal change, the quiet expanses that invite reflection. On the other, the rootedness of my Lebanese heritage, where colour, pattern, and memory intertwine to honour cultural traditions and the landscapes of my roots.

This duality is at the heart of my practice. Through acrylics and mixed media, I translate the abundance of nature into textured, expressive surfaces while weaving in motifs, rhythms, and symbolic elements that speak to ancestral memory. Canada offers me immediacy—the tactile joy of light, water, and foliage—while Lebanon grounds me in continuity, resilience, and the beauty of inherited cultural narratives.

I am drawn to contrasts: the lush chaos of a forest floor alongside the ordered repetition of traditional design; the quiet of snow against the vibrancy of Mediterranean colour; the present moment layered with echoes of the past. In this dialogue, I find not opposition but harmony, a way of belonging to both places while celebrating the richness each brings to my vision.

Often using a photograph as a reference my work comes together intuitively.

Above all, my art is an offering: a bridge between cultures, geographies, and generations, where memory and landscape meet to create a shared language of beauty and resilience.

My work is rooted in contrasts—between memory and presence, ornament and abstraction, tradition and playful inventions. I explore these dualities through two distinct bodies of work that reflect both cultural inheritance and contemporary interpretation.

The first, Autumn Candy, is an abstract celebration of abundance. Inspired by the sensory delight of Canadian autumn, these works transform the natural cycle of falling leaves into a vivid language of color and texture. The palette recalls maple syrup, caramel, fudge, and toffee—sweetness distilled into painterly form. Like a walk through a park where leaves drift into ponds, the collection offers moments of reflection that are at once playful and deeply evocative, layering nature’s rhythms with the indulgent richness of memory.

In contrast, my mixed-media collection draws from Lebanese and Islamic art traditions, weaving together calligraphic motifs, architectural echoes, and historical references. These pieces are textured and refined, functioning as both storytelling and homage. They embody a dialogue between ornament and structure, the spiritual and the tactile—artworks that honor cultural heritage while reimagining its presence in a contemporary visual language.

Together, these collections express my journey through multiple identities. One body of work embraces the visceral abundance of landscape and season; the other reflects a lineage of art and culture that continues to inform and inspire. Both are bound by a search  for meaning through material, color, and form—where personal narrative finds universal resonance.

Born in Lebanon, raised in Canada and currently living Panama has afforded me a very rich tapestry for my artistic expression.

As a busy Mom, I, like many women, gave priority to raising my family. This allowed little time for my artistic passion to be fulfilled. But finally, over the last several years, this has now begun to bloom in full.

Self taught and blessed with an artistic spirit, I immersed myself with zest into online learning. In 2007, 2012 and 2013 I enrolled in the  renowned Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver and took several online and in person courses which were instrumental in driving me forward.

Several mentors have inspired me during those courses with great passion – Jean Krabbendaum, Janice Robertson, Martin Guderna,  Jose Luis Herrera, and Ernesto Cordova.  Each of these immensely talented artists, both national and international, have inspired and motivated me.

In 2019 , I have also undertaken tutoring with Chinese Watercolour artist Lin Ling of China which was a short but incredible experience.

I continue to be active in online learning and I just finished a Mastering Composition class with Canadian awarded artist, Ian Roberts.

In 2021, I exhibited at the Expo Arte at the Vestibulo de la Universidad Interamericana de Panama.

In 2023, I was an exhibiting artist with an online Chapter Challenge at the Federation of Canadian Artists in Vancouver, Canada and  in 2024, participated in the juried square foot show in the Westland Gallery in London, Ontario. Currently working with Canadian Art Consultant Joanne Poluch of Remarque Art Consulting has resulted in a new and committed work ethic and a much wider appreciation for the business of art.
